If you find yourself anywhere near Franschoek on a Sunday, lunch at la Petite Ferm is a must. You drive through the village, usually hustling and bustling with tourists and locals alike soaking up the sunshine on one of the pavement cafes or browsing the many lovely shops. At the t-junction by the Huguenot monument, turn left and continue up toward the mountain pass. Just as you think you must have missed it, you will see the sign on the right.
Be sure to book in advance though, it is very popular! And do ask for a table on the verandah as the views are unbeatable. The menu is simple and seasonal, local produce cooked with love and a dash of French flair. The service is impeccable and the surroundings invite you to linger for a long time. On a fine day, you can move out in the garden after your meal and get your coffee and avec served on a blanked while dosing away and enjoying the views.
