Roots Restaurant is less than an hour from Sandton, yet in a different world. A world where the highveld stretches across rolling hills as far as the eye can see, and where zebras and antelope graze peacefully in the distance. This is the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site where some of the oldest hominid fossils in the world have been found (some dating back as far as a mind-boggling 3.5 million years).
Roots Restaurant is located in the 5-star Forum Homini hotel, tastefully developed to blend in with the surrounding nature.
Sunday lunch at Roots is an all-afternoon affair, where your 6-course menu with accompanying wines is served at a leisurely pace while the highveld is shifting from pale silver to rich gold in the afternoon light outside the panorama windows. The chef takes his inspiration from African and Oriental cuisines, and uses locally sourced ingredients for the seasonal menu.
