I just love my two new, locally made and absolutely lekker (awesome) bags! The small one, which fits my phone, a credit card and lipstick, is from a company in Stellenbosch called Peppertree that employs over 20 women from the local community. The big one, perfect for a work meeting with iPad, notebook, wallet and a few other necessities, is from an initiative in Swaziland called Amarasti. Over 40 gogos (grandmothers) are supplementing their meager pensions by making totally amazing bags and other things. Many of these ladies also support their grandchildren, who have often lost their parents to HIV/AIDS.
Locally made, lekker and with an added feel-good factor!
