Local art is lekker

I recently came across some of Sarel Petrus‘ bronze work in a quirky little shop, and was immediately charmed. He takes dead things and rubbish, and breathes new life into them (my interpretation), or in his own words: “My work restores a different semblance of life, it venerates life, but not more so than death. My work associates life closely with death, its unknowable, inevitable shadow. Life, I believe, is unknowable to death, too”.
