African Responsible Tourism Awards

I am beyond excited to announce that My Slow Journey has been longlisted in the Best Blog category of the African Responsible Tourism Awards! There are only 3 blogs on the longlist, but the competition is really stiff and the blogs are very different to one another. Greenloons is a tour operator selling sustainable holidays to destinations worldwide with a focus on various sustainability and eco certifications. The Good Holiday  features stories from around the world, but with a focus on southern Africa (since I am a contributor to The Good Holiday it kinda feels like I have a double chance on the award!). Then there’s My Slow Journey; a one-woman show that aims to inspire people to travel, meet people, explore cultures AND make responsible choices along the journey.

My Slow Journey

Over and above the Best Blog, there are several other categories and there are a few businesses on the longlist that I have already written about, these are some of them:

Uthando South Africa (Best for engaging people & culture)

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve (Best for poverty reduction)

Umlani Bushcamp (Best for resource management)

Vineyard Hotel (Best for resource management)

As for the rest of the longlist, let’s just say that my Bucket List has been updated! If I could, I’d visit all of them!

The winners of the African Responsible Tourism Awards will be announced at World Travel Market Africa in Cape Town, 16 April 2015. This award is the regional chapter of the World Responsible Tourism Awards that are presented at World Travel Market in London.

Keep your fingers crossed for My Slow Journey!
