What is slow?

Slow is not necessarily about pace, although it is always good to slow down and smell the roses now and then. A wise Professor (Floistad) once said:

“The only thing for certain is that everything changes. The rate of change increases. If you want to hang on you better speed up. That is the message of today. It could however be useful to remind everyone that our basic needs never change. The need to be seen and appreciated! It is the need to belong. The need for nearness and care, and for a little love! This is given only through slowness in human relations. In order to master changes, we have to recover slowness, reflection and togetherness. There we will find real renewal.”

This is what slow means to me:

  • Slow is exploring near and far
  • Slow is sincere
  • Slow is mindful
  • Slow is eating locally produced and seasonal
  • Slow is experiencing the moment
  • Slow is staying in touch with friends
  • Slow is healthy
  • Slow is travelling consciously
  • Slow is meeting new people and cultures
  • Slow is embracing life

This blog is about all of these things. Mostly experienced through travel, but also through the little moments and things that make our lives richer.
